Mildred Harris, Educator, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at God First Church and Ministries, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in ministerial service and religious education.
Dr. Harris started her education at DePaul University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. Upon graduation, she became a teacher at Gary Public Schools in Gary, Indiana, where she went on to work as an educator for over 30 years, until 1993. In 1975, Dr. Harris earned a Master of Arts from Governors State University, and in 1985, she earned an MPS from Loyola University. Finally, she studied at the International Bible Institute and Seminary, earning a Doctor of Ministry in 1985. Dr. Harris started God First Church and Ministries in 1978, and continues to act as founder and chief executive officer to this day. She has opened chapters of her ministry in Tennessee, Illinois, New York, and Georgia, and plans to open a women’s center in the center of Chicago. The center will offer educational services, financial literacy information, and employment support services.
